Lockdown seems to have been a double edged sword for music and artists. While the industry at large scrambles to react to changes in listening habits, access to artists, delayed recordings and the looming possibility of a crippled live scene… some artists have quite enjoyed the slow down.

We’ve seen any number of covers filling up digital content space, from both international giants to emerging and hobbyist performers. Demand appears to match the supply; streaming figures showed that a good number of listeners were turning to old favourites and finding comfort in nostalgia. Covers often appear at the top of any “marketing tips for growing your audience”, but it’s not always as easy as it sounds. However, sometimes you wind up with something that gets preferred to the original, and some of the best covers ( in our opinion) reimagine a song from a new angle, with a different feel.

So here are four of our favourite covers to come out of lockdown, with cool new takes on tracks you already loved…
